The "Church Year" or "Ecclesiastical Year" is a way of reckoning time that simultaneously recapitulates the life of Christ and the story of redemption. The Church Year begins with the time of waiting or anticipation for the messiah, and ends with a commemoration of Christ's kingship and his return at the end of time. It is thus an embodied method or pedagogy for teaching the biblical understanding of Christ's Lordship over the whole course of history.
